Isaac Lau is a locally-based pianist and teacher with over 20 years of experience in teaching.

Isaac Lau’s students are frequent prize winner in various competitions, especially the Hong Kong School Music festival. His students were very well-received in concerto competition such as the Betty Down Memorial Prize by HKSMSA. Some students of Isaac Lau went on with their musical pursuit, with his preparation, they gone through competitive auditions and entered music institutions such as the music departments of Baptist University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2014, one student of his was admitted to the most prestigious piano program in Hong Kong, the performance degree program in piano, offered by the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, with a full four-year scholarship provided by ABRSM.

Before focusing in teaching privately, Isaac Lau was a lecture faculty for the Hong Kong International Institute of Music, in the area of applied piano, piano literature, piano pedagogy and chamber music. He was also an adjudicator for Hong Kong Speech and Music Recital Foundation piano competitions. His performing experience includes appearance in Pittsburgh, USA to his hometown Hong Kong. He was also a performing participant of various festivals, such as Pianotexas in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

Isaac Lau holds a master degree in piano performance and certificate in piano pedagogy from Carnegie Mellon University in United States. He was a CMU school of music fellowship recipient, and was being inducted to Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, for graduating top of his class. Prior to his studies in the United States, he completed his undergraduate work in the music department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Notable teachers of Isaac Lau includes ABRSM regional advisor, Emeritus Professor of Music David Gwilt, pedagogy specialist Prof. Hanna Li, leading Hong Kong pianist Mary Wu, major American Bach-pianist Sergey Schepkin and 20th century super-virtuoso, Earl Wild.
